ILEX SKIN PROTECTANT PASTE is a Biomedical topical skin barrier for use on a wide variety of dermal wounds and mild to severe skin irritations. ILEX is hydro active and helps prevent EXTERNAL MICROBIAL INFILTRATION ON CUTS, ABRASIONS, WOUNDS, MINOR BURNS, MOIST WEEPY WOUNDS, and forms an occlusive barrier. Effective against digestive and urinary acids and enzymes and wound exudates. ILEX is alcohol and latex free and not absorbed systemically so it is safe on all skin types including Neonates, Pediatrics, as well as the Geriatric patient. ILEX can be used safely in conjunction with other prescribed topicals including antifungal, antibiotic, and steroid indicated therapy. ILEX is the only skin barrier that exhibits a 0.00 cmh moisture penetration rate.

ILEX IS A VERY EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR MOTHERS UNABLE TO CHANGE DIAPERS FOR PROLONGED PERIODS OF TIME. Ilex maintains excellent skin protection and effectively prevents diaper rash from occurring in these cases.

INDICATIONS:

ILEX is indicated for the prevention and treatment of mild to severe skin irritations and excoriations resulting from a wide range of skin breakdown associated with Cuts, Abrasions, Wounds, Minor burns, Ostomies, (all types), G-Tube placement, severe skin breakdown resulting from Pull-Through Procedures in infants and children, J-Pouch surgery, Fecal Fistulas, surgical and traumatic wounds with caustic drainage which result in skin breakdown. First and Second Degree burns have been treated successfully with iLEX when used as an occlusive, spread able dressing. ILEX promotes rapid healing, and HELPS PREVENT EXTERNAL MICROBIAL INFILTRATION AND EXTERNAL WOUND CONTAMINATION. REMAINS INTACT UNDER WATER.

GENERAL DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Clean the area to be treated as directed by the ET Nurse or Physician or per protocol. For preventing external microbial infiltration on cuts and abrasions, apply a light coating to effected areas. Use the least amount of strokes to spread the iLEX as possible. (NOTE): If iLEX starts to granulate, apply a little more iLEX over the existing layer. The amount used will vary with the needs of each patient. For treating an Ostomy, apply a light layer of iLEX directly around and up to the stoma and irritated areas at each appliance change. An adjunct adhesive preparation may be applied on top of iLEX to assist with adhesion of the appliance. ILEX provides a tight seal at the site of the stoma and protects the area of clearance between the stoma and the appliance wafer thus protects the skin from digestive enzymes from contacting the exposed skin. The soothing properties of iLEX will often provide immediate relief from discomfort during appliance and diaper changes, allowing for better skin care and patient compliance in the management of their home care. Do not attempt to forcibly remove any remaining residue of iLEX on excoriated areas. This residue should be left in place so as not to injure sensitive and weeping skin tissue. Simply apply ILEX over the remaining residue.
